Book of the Month
The danger exists in any church for pastors to become stagnant in their learning and congregants to become entirely dependent on their pastors for instruction in the word. Neither of these are optimal, as the stagnant pastor will soon begin filling in the scriptural blanks with his own imagination and the dependent congregant will believe his pastor has the final word on scripture. In fighting against both of these pitfalls, every month one book is selected to be read by the congregants and pastors of Academia Church. Book topics range from Jesus and Pauline studies to Christian science-fiction such as The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis. The current and previous four books of the month remain on the website, listed under the “Book of the Month” heading in the order they were originally read (most recent at top, oldest at bottom). At the bottom of the page of each book is a comment forum where readers are encouraged to share their thoughts about the books and engage in conversation with other commenters.
